Part 1
Aims
This course is designed for delegates with some electrical skills but no previous knowledge of industrial control. It is an 8-day programme which is divided into two 4-day parts. It gives engineers the practical skills and knowledge to undertake a number of industrial control tasks.
Course Content
- Health and Safety.
- Safe working practices.
- Measurement systems and pressure measurement.
- Error measurement.
- Calibration.
- Testing and fault finding.
- Pressure measurement, pressure gauges and recorders.
- Level measurement.
- Flow measurement.
- Temperature measurement.
Assessment
Practical competence-based assessments and a short answer written paper to test knowledge and understanding.
Duration
4 days (08.30 - 15.30 hours each day).
Certification
Following satisfactory completion of the programme, a MCP certificate will be issued.

Part 2
Aims
This programme is designed for delegates who have attended Part 1 of the programme. It gives engineers practical skills and knowledge to undertake a number of industrial control tasks.
Course Content
- Health and Safety.
- Safe working practices.
- Signal processing devices.
- Response times.
- Current transmission } - Transmission including
- Voltage transmission } - pneumatics
- I/P and P/I conversion.
- Open and closed loop control systems.
- Tune 1, 2, and 3 term controllers.
- Valves and valve positioners.
Assessment
Practical competence-based assessments and a short answer written paper to test knowledge and understanding.
Duration
4 days (08.30 - 15.30 hours each day).
Certification
Following completion of the programme, a City and Guilds 6396-02 Measurement & Control Certificate will be issued on gaining a positive outcome
